The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) collaborated with Italian Trade Commission to have Italy as the partner country for the up and coming season of Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) SS’ 17 to be held from October 12-16 in New Delhi. During the fashion week collections of leading Italian brands keen to enter the Indian market will be showcased.

FDCI in association with Assocalzaturifici (Italian Footwear Manufacturers' Association) and Aimpes (Italian Leather goods Manufacturers’ Association) will present the collections of leather bags and shoes of 41 Italian brands.

The collection of accessories will be displayed at the Italian Pavilion during the fashion week along with special outfits of young designers Alberto Zambelli, Bav Tailor, Davide Grillo, and Leitmotiv, selected by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (National Chamber of Italian Fashion).

“I am very proud to present one of the extraordinary pillars of the ‘Made in Italy’: Fashion in shoes and bags; that's why it is not by chance that we called our participation in this context as ‘Fashion Appeals from Shoulders to Heels’,” said Francesco Pensabene, Trade Commissioner of the Embassy of Italy and Coordinator for Italian Trade Commission Offices in India in a press release.

Pensabene added that, “Feeling extremely excited about this partnership with FDCI , Assocalzaturifici  and Aimpes , we are looking forward to a great event to foster the trade relations between India and Italy in the fashion sector.”

“We are delighted to be associated with Italy as our partner country for the Amazon Fashion Week SS ’17. Italy is known for its beautifully crafted accessories, superlative tailoring and design aesthetics which will add fervor to the fashion week. We look forward to a long and insightful association,” said Sunil Sethi, president, FDCI.

A discussion focusing on the new fashion trends and collections, organized by the Italian Trade Commission, will be held on 14 October which will include participation from Italian brands like Braccialini, Cromia, and Voile Blanche along with trend forecasters Mattori and WGSN and Indian fashion experts.
