Founder of Native brand to exit P&G
Moiz Ali, founder and chief executive officer of natural deodorant brand Native, will step down from his role, effective Jan 31, 2020.
According to P&G, which bought Native for $100 million in cash in November of 2017, Ali’s exit is “a mutually-agreed decision” that will allow the entrepreneur to move on to new projects.
“Moiz is an incredibly successful entrepreneur and brand-builder,” said Markus Strobel, president of P&G Skin & Personal Care. “He leaves a strong legacy with Native that we will nurture and fuel as he moves on to do more great things. We are greatly appreciative of all we have learned from him and wish him the very best. We would welcome the opportunity to work with him again.”
Ali will be replaced as CEO of Native by Vineet Kumar, the current director of P&G Asia Skin Care. Kumar has spent over 13 years with the company, having served in a variety of roles including associate marketing director; brand manager, beauty care, ASEAN; and brand manager, emerging markets Asia, among others.
Since P&G’s acquisition of Native, the brand has grown by over 300%, the company said, and landed distribution in Target, Walmart and Walgreens.
“Starting and growing Native has been the great privilege of my life,” Ali said. “Under new leadership and with P&G’s continued stewardship, Native is positioned for continued explosive growth.”
Native's continued growth will contribute to the strong performance of beauty brands at P&G, which raised its full-year sales and profit forecasts in October after a better-than-expected first quarter thanks to demand for its premium beauty brands such as SK-II and China Olay.
