The matter has been under discussion for several months, but on 24th November it will become official. FIFAS and FPS, the French employer organisations representing sport and leisure industry manufacturers and retailers, including the major sport outfitters, and Univelo, the French cycling industry's national association, represented by their Presidents Michel Zany, Pierre Gogin and Jérôme Valentin, are set to join forces to create a major employer association.

The three organisations' objective is clear: to gain critical mass and carry more weight. The association "will bring together all businesses active in the sport, leisure, cycling and mobility industries, whether producers, retailers or service providers," the three Presidents explained, announcing the date when the new organisation will be established.

In practical terms, the latter will represent about 1,400 companies with a combined revenue of approximately €10 billion, and a total of 100,000 employees. Enough to wield a significant amount of influence when dealing with partners and public authorities.
