The retailer that welcomes the most tourists in Paris on the most touristic avenue in Paris… That would obviously be the Galeries Lafayette on the Champs-Élysées. And that's poised to be a reality.

The French group of the department stores has just announced that it has started exclusive negotiations to take over the lease of the store located on 52, avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the famous spot previously occupied by a Virgin Megastore. The lease should be signed by the end of the year.

This 30,000 ft² (9,000 m²) store, one of the biggest retail spaces on the Champs-Élysées, is set to become the new flagship model for the Galeries Lafayette, alongside the historic store on Boulevard Haussmann.

In addition to its unique location, the Galeries Lafayette will also not face any opposition in opening on Sundays even though the discussions continue for Boulevard Haussmann.
