Garrett Leight launches luxury eyewear cases with Guichard

Garrett Leight has partnered with several designers and brands on eyewear, including Thierry Lasry, Mark McNairy, W Hotel, Kith and Want Les Essentiels. The California-born designer’s latest collaboration is surprisingly not a new eyewear silhouette, but instead a useful case for a small collection of glasses.

Made in partnership with Guichard, the limited-edition eyewear case is inspired by Leight’s own Guichard case and features handcrafted leather construction with a reinforced handle, a contrast felt lining, and metal closures. The case has slots for six eyewear frames and is available in black, brown, grey and orange.

Leight first discovered Guichard, the 84-year-old French malletier, in 2009 at the Silmo eyewear show. He describes the trunk manufacturer’s cases as a personal favorite and a “hidden gem at the optical shows.”

“For obvious reasons I take my case whenever I’m traveling, and every time I get asked about it,” said Leight. “People want to know what it is and where they can get one. There is clearly a demand for this kind of accessory and it quickly made sense to me that we should create one for GLCO. It simply provides a convenience for our customer without sacrificing style.”

The Garrett Leight California Optical x Guichard case retails for $595 and is available at the GLCO stores in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City and on the GLCO website. The eyewear brand is also offering monogramming for the cases at its store and online.
