The new product was announced in Paris at the Chinese company's launch event for its latest smartphone model, the Huawei P30 Pro.

According to a report by The Verge, the glasses are IP67 dust and water resistant, and can be charged wirelessly via the glasses case, which has a 2,200mAh battery, or via the USB-C port. The eyewear will connect with a user's phone like a smart watch, and allow the wearer to tap their temple to answer calls and access voice assistant.

Set to launch this summer, the Huawei x Gentle Monster glasses will be available in several models. Prices have yet to be announced.

Established in 2011, Gentle Monster operates a total of 19 retail locations, including stores in South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, mainland China and Hong Kong, as well as stores in London, New York and Los Angeles. Each Gentle Monster location features a unique interior design, as the brand aims to make the shops appear more like a fine art installation than a retail space.

The Korean brand's shareholders include L Catterton Asia, an investment partner to LVMH.

Later this year, Gentle Monster is also set to release a collaboration with Ambush, the brand led by Korean-American fashion and jewelry designer Yoon Ahn.
