Georges Hobeika is preparing his succession. On the eve of Paris Haute Couture Week, in which Hobeika will show on July 4, opening day, and as he prepares to celebrate his eponymous label’s 27th anniversary, the Lebanese fashion designer has officially appointed as joint creative director his son Jad, who has been working with him for some years.

A new chapter is starting for Georges Hobeika, a label founded in 1995 and renowned for its romantic style, with offices in Beirut and Paris. “Building on the label’s international expansion, Jad and his father will work closely together to preserve the essence of their family business while sharing responsibility for collection design and commercial strategy,” the label stated in a press release.

Jad, 26 and born into a fashion family, joined Georges Hobeika’s design studio six years ago to train. As the label pointed out, “the young designer soon exceeded his father's expectations: Jad's avant-garde aesthetic instantly won over a wider, more inclusive audience, his style resonating with the expectations of a new generation of couture customers.”

Father and son co-designed their first couture collection for the Fall/Winter 2019-20 season: it was an instant hit with celebrities and actresses, among them Jennifer Lopez. “Jad was born into this world, and over the years I have allowed him more and more room to be creative. I trust his ideas and admire his hard work. He is breathing great vitality and remarkable modernity into the label,” said Georges.

“It is an honour to be part of this journey, contributing to the evolution of a fashion house so full of dreams and creativity,” said Jad, adding that “my vision for Georges Hobeika is not only to create fashion that is beautiful and modern, but also to be a source of inspiration for many young artists and designers who want to succeed in this industry, wherever they may be in the world.”
