Gieves & Hawkes, the British men's tailor brand that was founded in 1771, has announced that Mark Frost is its new Design Director.

Frost replaces Simon Spurr, who was appointed Design Director just five months ago. Spurr is leaving Trinity Group, which owns Gieves & Hawkes, after three years at the company. Frost has worked in Gieves & Hawkes' creative team for four years and prior to that, he worked with Tom Ford and for British formalwear brand Hackett.

Trinity Limited’s Chief Executive Officer, Richard Cohen, commented: “Mark has been with Gieves & Hawkes for a number of years and knows the brand inside out. I have every confidence he will continue to ensure our designs remain grounded in tradition, while evolving to meet the needs of the modern gentleman.”

Mark Frost said, “Having worked with the Gieves & Hawkes team for a number of years, I’m deeply passionate about the brands unique history and its role in styling both the British military and Royal family over many generations. I’m greatly looking forward to taking on this new role and steering the creative direction of the brand as we move forward."

Commenting on his departure, Spurr said: “After 3 years within the Trinity group, I have decided to explore other opportunities in the menswear market. I wish Trinity group and Mark Frost, the utmost success.”

Cohen added, “It is with regret that Simon Spurr will be leaving us as Creative Director of Gieves and Hawkes. We want to thank Simon for his partnership and professionalism during his time with the Group, both at Gieves and Hawkes and in his previous role as Creative Director at Kent & Curwen."

Though Gieves & Hawkes has been around for over 200 years, it is continually updating itself - last month it announced a new capsule collection together with luxury swimwear and resort brand Orlebar Brown.
