Glossier has hired Elle.com digital director Leah Chernikoff as head of content, a Glossier representative has confirmed to FashionNetwork.com. Chernikoff will begin her new role in late April.

Cherkinoff joins Glossier as its business continues to soar, having recently been valued as a $1.2 billion-dollar company following a $100 million round of Series D funding led by Sequoia Capital.

Glossier also launched its first makeup line outside of its core Glossier range, Glossier Play, earlier this month.

With no full-fledged strategy announced, time will tell if Chernikoff will build on Into the Gloss, the beauty and lifestyle blog launched by Glossier founder Emily Weiss before the widely popular beauty startup was founded in its current form.

The blog is still up and running with a dedicated fanbase, but its overall readership is low – according to ComScore, there isn't enough traffic coming to Into the Gloss to track.

Currently, Glossier has 1.9 million followers on Instagram, and operates across social media on Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and YouTube.

At Elle, Chernikoff will reportedly be replaced by Katie Connor, the publication's print deputy editor.
