Goat launches global AR campaign for Black Friday
Digital sneaker marketplace Goat will amplify its Black Friday sale by launching a series of augmented reality (AR) activations, offering customers around the world the chance to win over 1,000 prizes and $10,000 in purchasing credit.
Using the company's app, all participants will receive 100 digital raffle tickets entering them to win rare shoes like the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG 'Shattered Backboard,' KAWS x Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Black,' and Pharrell x BBC x NMD Human Race Trail 'Heart/Mind.' Users can then access a Goat map of 125 location-activated AR objects, experiences and destinations, each of which can be unlocked to earn users more tickets and up their chance of winning prizes.
Goat's interactive map acts as a worldwide chart of the "Greatest Of All Time" sneaker culture moments, outlining the events and people who shaped the footwear movement. According to the company, locations range from sites tied to legendary athletes like Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, Muhammad Ali and Wayne Gretzky; to "milestones throughout technology, sports and sneaker history," like "Sneaker Street" in Hong Kong and the site of the oldest known leather shoe in Armenia.
Once they have arrived, users will find an in-app 3D AR object that can be shared on social media, such as a life-like newspaper with articles regarding the associated sneaker milestone. For each site visited in-person and each object shared, participants will earn 100 extra tickets.
Goat's AR experience, developed using Apple ARKit, is available through the company's app on both iPhone and android. Users who turn on push notifications for the app will receive alerts when they are close to the map's historic spots.
Customers can enter Goat’s Black Friday event any time between November 9 and November 22. Winners will receive an email and push notification on Friday, November 23.
