Gordon Brothers makes two senior appointments in Europe
Gordon Brothers, the global business advisory firm, has announced on Monday the appointment of two Spanish executives, Alvaro Cobo and Berta Escudero, to boost its European team.
Alvaro Cobo has been named managing director for Spain and Portugal, succeeding Gerhard van der Vorst, who is retiring at the end of 2019. With 17 years of experience in the sector, Cobo will be responsible for the company’s operations in the Iberian peninsula.
Meanwhile, Berta Escudero will become managing director of the firm’s retail division and drive he development of the firm’s services for companies in Spain, Portugal and other European countries, as well as Russia and the Middle East. Escudero has extensive experience in the sector, having served as CEO of companies including Spanish fashion brand El Ganso and Spanish retailer Tendam.
“Spain is a key market for Gordon Brothers. It has sophisticated retail and investment brands, which have been successfully served by our global team of 300 professionals in a very demanding market,” said Gerhard van der Vorst, current CEO, in a press release.
The European president of Gordon Brothers, Heinz Weber, added that “these high-level appointments will strengthen our European team. Alvaro brings extensive experience in restructuring and special situations and Berta is an excellent professional in the retail universe where she has worked with a large number of high-profile international brands during their transition.”
Gordon Brothers, established in 1903 and headquartered in the US, has been operating in Spain since 2012. The company conducts more than $70 billion worth of dispositions and appraisals annually, and has 25 offices around the world. It has operations in North America, Europe, South America and Australia.
