As part of the partnership, The RealReal has now launched a dedicated e-commerce site for secondhand Gucci pieces -- including men's and women's clothing, bags and shoes --supplied by the brand as well as consignors.

According to a press release from the brand, Gucci is one of the most in-demand luxury brands available on The RealReal, having seen a 19% increase in resale demand in the past year. The brand said it has also seen strong resale value for consignors, with clothing resale value 2.3 times stronger than average, compared to all brands sold on The RealReal.

“Gucci is raising the bar not only for the fashion industry, but for all companies by continuously innovating to make its business more sustainable,” said Julie Wainwright, founder and chief executive officer of The RealReal.

“Together we’re shining a global spotlight on resale that we hope will encourage all consumers to support the circular economy and join us in reducing fashion’s carbon footprint.”

As an added philanthropic boost, each Gucci piece sold or consigned through The RealReal shop will result in a donation to One Tree Planted, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting global reforestation efforts.

With the resale market continuing to boom, Gucci joins the list of luxury brands that have entered into a circular economy partnership with The RealReal, including Burberry and Stella McCartney
