Luxury department store Harrods has finally appointed its first chief financial officer in five years. Tim Parker will join the business after 10 years at Hong Kong-based, London-listed conglomerate Jardine Matheson. Former CFO John Edgar left the business in 2017 after five years with the high-end retailer.

Parker held several senior finance jobs across Hong Kong and Malaysia, after a background in banking in London. His knowledge of international markets will help with Harrods growth initiatives which include boosting its presence in China and the Middle East.

“As we continue to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic and look towards the future, it is more important than ever to have the right talent in place to guide us through the next stage of our business strategy,” said Michael Ward, Harrods MD.

“I know the business will gain hugely from his leadership and extensive experience in a fast-moving market, and I look forward to working closely with him.”

Starved of foreign visitors for almost two years during the pandemic, the luxury department store continues its post-Covid bounce-back and the retailer continues to invest in its in-store and online operations, with plans for add to the four H Beauty stores across the UK.
