After the revamp of its beauty hall, menswear department and fine watches area, the latest Harrods department to reopen with a new look is the luxury retailer’s homewares destination.

Reinvigorated with a fabric library, personalisation services and Harrods’ own in-house design studio, the new interiors department combines all home accessories and furniture offerings onto a single floor.

The space was designed by Virgile + Partners with a view to delivering a smoother customer journey while giving products a stronger visual presence.

Homewares collections from design powerhouses such as Dior, Hermès, Fornasetti, L’Objet, Lalique, Versace Home and Richard Ginori, are presented alongside popular brands such as Wedgwood and Waterford.

There is a section dedicated to home fragrances, while the brand new Halcyon Gallery features artworks by the likes of Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso and Bob Dylan. In Kitchen & Household, an interactive space hosts demonstrations of a selection of product ranges, while In Luxury Linens, customers can custom-design and monogram their own fabrics.

At the heart of the department is Harrods Interior Design, an interior and architecture design studio headed up by Letitia Fitzgibbon. It offers a range of expert design services, from styling advice to complete refurbishment options.

Chris Dee, director of Food & Home, said: “The aim for Harrods Interiors is to give a consistent identity to the department while offering our customers a truly inspirational shopping experience.”

Over the past few years, Harrods has been gradually improving the look and feel of its departments to modernise its famous Knightsbridge store. Founded more than 170 years ago, the brand continues to be one of London’s leading luxury destinations, popular with international tourists as well as British shoppers.
