David Carey, President of Hearst Magazines, announced two executive hires on Monday in the company’s U.S. magazine division, bringing on Debi Chirichella as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and Grant Whitmore as Vice President, Digital Media.

Chirichella, who comes over to Hearst after a brief stint at Prometheus Global Media and seven years at rival Conde Nast, will oversee all the financial planning and reporting in a newly created position for the company.

"Our magazine company has grown dramatically in recent years, driven by launches, organic growth and acquisitions, and I'm pleased that Debi will join us to lead strategy in our financial operations in our U.S. print and digital businesses," Carey said in a statement.

Chirichella served as COO of the Digital division of Conde Nast, publisher of titles like the New Yorker, Wired and Vogue. Earlier this year, after a brief stop at the Fairchild Fashion Group, she became the COO and CFO at Prometheus, publisher of titles such as The Hollywood Reporter and Adweek.

Whitmore will run Hearst’s digital operations, including 28 websites and 14 mobile sites.

Whitmore was the chief operating officer of the US Digital Media Division at Hachette Filipacchi Media, which Hearst bought at the end of May as part of its purchase of Lagardere SCA’s international properties.

Hearst made a number of executive moves after its $919 million deal with Largardere, including bringing in employees from Conde Nast, where Carey previously served as the group's President. This continues the pattern of combining outside hires with inside promotions.
