German consumer goods company Henkel has named Frank Steinert as senior vice president, head of human resources North America.

In the new role, Steinert will be based at the company’s Consumer Goods North American Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, which opened in July of this year. In addition to serving as senior VP and head of human resources, he will also serve as a member of Henkel’s North American leadership team.

Prior to joining Henkel, Steinert spent over seven years at German mass media company, Bertelsmann, first serving as a general counsel and later taking on responsibilities within the company’s human resources department. In addition, he has also served in multiple executive roles at Random House, including senior vice president of human resources and chief human resources officer.

“With the growth of Henkel North America in recent years, this is an exciting time to join a fantastic organization,” said Steinert. “Together, with my Human Resources team, our business partners, and fellow employees, I look forward to energizing our culture and commitments to optimize talent, strengthen diversity, and drive business success.”

The company, which produces products like Schwarzkopf hair care and Right Guard deodorant, lowered its full-year outlook for sales and earnings in August as a result of disappointing performance within its beauty unit and a decrease in its adhesives business due to falling industrial production. The company saw second-quarter sales fall by 0.4% to 5.121 billion euros (about $5.6 billion), while earnings per share fell 9.5% to 1.43 euros, both below average analyst forecasts.
