Honey Birdette bows US online store, eyes physical openings

Australian lingerie retailer Honey Birdette has bowed an online store in the US.

The American e-commerce platform features speedy and free delivery for orders over US$50, fuss-free postal returns and a US-dedicated product range, which is an expansion on Honey Birdette's current offering in Australia.

And there are plans to roll out US stores in the future, an initiative that has been on the drawing board for the brand for several years.

Founders Eloise Monaghan and Janelle Barboza told local media back in 2010 they had signed a lease to open Honey Birdette's first US store in Los Angeles, with plans to open doors by the year's end. But, the store never came about, and the retailer shifted its focus to Europe, with retail spaces launching in the UK.

The American e-commerce debut comes just months after Honey Birdette launched a new British website and opened its third boutique in the UK. It now has a store in London's Covent Garden, White City Westfield in London, and another store in Leeds.

Founded in 2005 in Brisbane's West End, Honey Birdette has 45 boutiques in Australia. The intimates retailer sells a range of provocative lingerie and bedroom accessories, laced in the razzle-dazzle of classic showbiz style.
