After ‘La Montagne’, it is now time for ‘Le Splash’. French label Jacquemus presented the former, its latest winter collection, at a film studio last July, and is soaring to new heights with its new summer collection. At the end of Paris Fashion Week, designer Simon Porte Jacquemus has chosen a far-away destination that couldn't be more exotic. He is heading for the Pacific, more precisely Hawaii, where he will unveil his Spring/Summer 2022 collection on Wednesday March 9.

Porte Jacquemus has made no formal announcement. Simply a video post on his Instagram account, the designer filmed underwater in an azure pool, wearing a scuba mask. “I’m truly pleased to announce that our next show, ‘Le Splash’, an absolutely unique project for us, will take place in Hawaii. I can’t wait,” posted Jacquemus with the video.

The label loves staging spectacular open-air shows. In recent years, it picked the lavender fields of Provence and the wheat fields in Val d’Oise as show settings, and for the first time it has gone for a destination outside France. A choice that might raise a few eyebrows, since last season Porte Jacquemus told Vogue he had opted for a film studio because he “didn’t want to rush off to some crazy place on the planet. Because I wanted to focus on the garments and on design, and didn’t want to parrot myself.”

The designer is set to show his collection by the sea, on the island of Oahu. A location that, in the current climate and with a war raging in Ukraine, could turn out to be counter-productive in terms of brand image.
