Beauty brand Kate Somerville Skincare is marking Women's History Month with the launch of a documentary about its trailblazing founder.

Dubbed ‘This is Kate,' the mini-documentary charts Somerville's personal and professional journey, exploring a career in clinical skincare that has spanned more than two decades. It also marks the 15th anniversary of her luxury eponymous beauty brand.

"I hope this film empowers and educates people, not just on skin health, but on female entrepreneurship and perseverance," says Somerville. "It is important for me to share this message -- my background is a fundamental part of the brand and has been a driving force behind how I have been able to grow the company to where it is today."

The six-and-a-half minute program sees Somerville discuss the challenges of her childhood in California, before documenting her rise to the top of the beauty industry and her role as one of the most in-demand skin experts among Hollywood stars. It also explores the role that her Skin Health Clinic, which she opened in Los Angeles's Melrose Place in 2004, has had on her brand (the clinic still acts as both a laboratory and product incubator today). It features appearances by friends and industry experts including Celebrity Makeup Artist Spencer Barnes, the Cut's Beauty Editor-at-Large Jane Larkworthy and Editor-in-Chief of SHE Media Justine Goodman.
