Canadian fashion and lifestyle retailer Kit and Ace has opened its Australian flagship store and 'technical atelier' in Sydney.
Located in Martin Place, the 360 square metre outlet is the first Kit and Ace 'technical atelier' outside of North America. As well as selling its technical cashmere collection, Kit and Ace has set up an instore 'atelier' and invited emerging designers to work as tailors and designers for the brand
The concept hopes to provide design opportunities for local fashion students and graduates, showcasing their creative skills to the public.
Kicking off this week, the atelier program will see Kit and Ace select two designers to work in residence for a 10-month period, before changing over.
The new designers will offer services such as customisation, monogramming and tailoring-with-purchase. Each will also have the chance to develop new designs based on current Kit and Ace styles.
Fashion designers Cassandra Morgan and Erica Villafuerte have been named the first official residents at the new Sydney atelier. They are recent graduates from the Whitehouse Institute of Design and FBI Fashion College, respectively.
The Sydney store will stock Kit and Ace's best-selling cashmere-blend basics, as well as the label’s new swimwear range.
