Laybuy, the buy now, pay later specialist from New Zealand, hosted its first day of deals for UK customers on Thursday in partnership with some of Britain’s best-known retailers.

The event, titled “Laybuy Mania” sees customers getting access to 24 hours of heavily discounted items from the likes of JD Sports, WHSmith, Boohoo and Lookfantastic.

But there is one catch: customers must pay using Laybuy’s interest-free, buy now, pay later service, which offers shoppers the option to spread the total cost of their purchase over six weekly payments.

This is the first time that Laybuy Mania has run in the UK, after successful events in New Zealand and Australia in 2018 and 2019.

Gary Rohloff, co-founder and managing director of Laybuy said: “Laybuy has always striven to provide consumers with true flexibility in the way they spend, as well as enabling them to access the best possible offers at short notice by spreading the costs at the point of purchase.

“Laybuy Mania is a great opportunity for all our customers to take advantage of some amazing promotions outside the typical shopping season peaks.”

Laybuy first launched in the UK last year, entering a highly competitive market that is already partly served by rivals Klarna and Clearpay. The service comes from New Zealand and it has partnered with over 6,000 retail merchants globally since its inception in 2017.
