Italian women's ready-to-wear label Les Copains has gone the internal route to appoint its new CEO. The knitwear specialist has issued a press release detailing its restructuring plan, whose linchpin is the promotion to CEO of Alessandro Mariani, for 20 years the label's brand manager.

"We have started a clearly defined strategic and industrial transformation, involving all of the companies' functions. [Les Copains] is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul and is concentrating on the group's heritage, thanks to a new, more flexible managerial structure and a greater emphasis on its know-how," said Mariani.

Since 2012, family company BVM, owner of Les Copains and the Blue Les Copains young line, has collaborated with many other labels (Chloé, Albini, Versace and Mugler), and also embarked on a relaunch effort, notably by creating the CEO position, held among others by Luca Bertolini and Gaetano Sallorenzo.

The Les Copains brand was founded in Bologna in 1953 by Mario Bandiera, and is now designed by his wife Stefania Bandiera. The label will present its new collection at the Milan Fashion Week show scheduled on 21st September. It is available at over one thousand multibrand retailers and operates monobrand stores in Milan, Rome, Florence, Moscow and Almaty, Kazakhstan.
