Milan and Shanghai are forging closer links in the name of luxury. A new Italy-China Fashion & Creative Council has been created, coinciding with the Shanghai Furniture Show and the 10th Forbes Forum in China. The council is led by Stefano Mologni, with the objective of fostering the relationship between the two countries' fashion, design and creative industries.

The first council was created last year, for the Milan World Fair. The project is supported by the Italian Ministry for Economic Development, the Italian Embassy and Consulate General in Shanghai, by ICE, the Italian Foreign Trade Agency, and by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China.

One of the project's first results is the cooperation agreement signed between the Montenapoleone Association, grouping together the luxury brands operating within Milan's prestigious central luxury district, and the Nanjing Xi Road Association, which does the same for Shanghai's most important luxury shopping street. The cooperation will focus on promoting Italian style in China and on attracting Chinese tourists to Italy.

"We are already working to bring to Shanghai the 'Vendemmia' (grape harvest) initiative, dedicated to wine, which we have organised in the last seven years in Milan," explained the President of the Montenapoleone Association, Guglielmo Miani, in a press release.
