Mapic Awards: 15 nominees for 5 prizes

The Cannes conference dedicated to retail real estate, which will take place from November 16-18 at the Palais des Festivals, has unveiled the 15 contenders for this year’s Mapic Awards.

Nominees for the ‘Best retail expansion’ are Aldo from Canada, Desigual from Spain and Hunkemöller International from the Netherlands. Competing for the ‘Best retailer in city centre’ category are Carrefour City from France and Abercrombie & Fitch from the United States. As for ‘Best new retail concept’, the contenders are Moustache from France, Asics from Amsterdam and Candylicious from Singapore.

Millénaire from Aubervilliers (France), Béziers from Poland, Eurovea from Bratislava and Vleuterweide from Utrecht will be going head-to-head for the ‘Best retail concept’ award. Nominees for the ‘Best refurbished retail development’ are City Centre from Milan, Galeria Echo from Cologne and The Style Outlets from Zweibrücken.

Made up of 9 professionals from the sector, the Mapic Awards jury will be led by John Strachan, the global head of retail of Cushman & Wakefield LLP. Other members of the jury are Frédéric Laloum, co-general director of Altarea and Andrew Watson, the international director LaSalle Investment Management.
