Scheduled for Tuesday, April 20, 2021, the launch of Kors’ latest collection, which marks the 40th anniversary of his namesake brand, will be available to watch globally, across the label’s social and digital channels.

The experience will kick off at 9.00 AM (ET) and will feature a special introduction from Kors, who will address viewers live from New York’s theater district.

With the show, the designer, who has lived in New York his whole life and is an avid theater fan, is hoping to shine a spotlight on Broadway and support NYC’s struggling theater sector, which has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

As part of these efforts, both the Michael Kors company and Kors himself will also be making a donation to The Actors Fund.

The fund is a U.S.-based human services organization that works to provide a safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals, while also fostering stability and resiliency in the industry.

“When I was starting out at 21, I could never have imagined I’d be here, 40 years later, sharing my collection with the whole world,” said Kors in a release.

“I’ve been fortunate to do what I love my whole life, and I want to use this celebration to spotlight another institution that means a great deal to me, and that could use our support—the New York theater community,” he added. “I’m grateful and excited to share this anniversary collection, and to continue celebrating the city that made me who I am.”

Kors is one of a number of major American designers who chose to skip New York Fashion Week this season, joining fellow heavyweights Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein.

The CFDA-organized event ran February 14 through 17 and featured just over 70 brands.
