Online luxury retailer Moda Operandi has named Akshat Thanawala as its new chief product officer.

As chief product officer, Thanawala will oversee Moda Operandi's product strategy across consumer-facing platforms and designer tools and services, working to create and ensure the quality of online experiences for the company's customers and ecosystem partners.
Thanawala comes to the luxe fashion platform with an extensive background in developing product strategy at technology companies. Previously, he held the role of vice president of product management at Grubhub at their headquarters in Chicago, where he oversaw products for both sides of the company's marketplace. He has also served in product leadership roles at both Expedia and Orbitz.
“[Thanawala's] experience building innovative products for complex marketplace systems is invaluable to Moda as we aim to build the best experiences for both our customers and brand partners,” said Ganesh Srivats, who was appointed to the role of chief executive officer at Moda Operandi in July of 2018. “I’m excited to welcome Akshat to Moda as we look to scale, and know he’ll have immediate positive impact on our growing business.”
Akshat's appointment as chief product officer follows Moda Operandi's announcement in February that former Etsy chief financial officer, Kristina Salen, was set to become the company's new CFO.
According to the company, Moda Operandi currently carries more than 1,000 brands and designers, ships to 125 countries, and has raised nearly $300 million in funding from top-tier global investors.
