Movado names new marketing head
Watchmaker Movado Group has announced the appointment of Stéphane Gerschel to the role of chief marketing officer, effective April 18.
The Paramus, New Jersey-based company said Gerschel will leverage his expertise in global marketing to drive awareness and interest for the company’s portfolio of brands, with a focus on maximizing the strength of its Movado brand around the world. He replaces the late Mary Leach, who vacated the top marketing position in February 2021, due to a battle with cancer.
"We believe our brands will benefit greatly from [Gerschel's] strong and expansive experience directing brand strategy in the luxury industry,” stated chairman and chief executive officer of Movado Group, Efraim Grinberg.
“As we continue to advance digitally and expand our watch and jewelry collections, we are confident that Stéphane’s extensive experience and terrific leadership skills will help drive Movado Group’s evolution in this pivotal time.”
A luxury veteran, Gerschel joins Movado from Pomellato at the Kering Group in Milan, where he served as the global brand managing director. Prior to that, he worked at LVMH as the senior director for international communication at Bulgari, and he was the international communication director for Veuve Clicquot.

Movado Group manufactures its own watch brands, including its namesake Movado, and Concord and Ebel and MVMT brands, which it acquired in 2018.
In addition, Movado makes and distributes watches on behalf popular fashion and accessories brands including Coach, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Olivia Burton, Tommy Hilfiger and Scuderia Ferrari.
