Japanese retailer Muji announced on Monday that its first Canadian flagship store will open on Vancouver’s Robson Street, on December 2.

Featuring 14,507 square feet of retail space, the flagship will be Muji’s largest store outside of Asia and will include a new store concept, and several new products and services never before seen in Canada.

The store will house special collections such as the Muji Labo collection and store features like The Aroma Bar, where customers can create a customized fragrance blend, a customization service dubbed Muji Yourself, as well as a coffee shop baptized Muji Coffee Counter.

“This year marks a big step for Muji Canada as we finally expanded to Western Canada and we will soon open our first flagship store,” said Toru Akita, president of Muji Canada, in a news statement.

“The goal of the Robson Street store is to deepen our relationships with local communities while offering new services and products in a distinctive retail space. In addition, by creating a relaxing environment with coffee, books and plants, we hope to help customers to make better choices toward creating their own pleasant lifestyle.”

The flagship opening will mark Muji’s sixth Canadian location. Muji currently has four stores located in the Greater Toronto Area, as well as one store in Vancouver at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby. The retailer expanded to Canada in 2014.

Muji has previously stated that they plan to open more stores across Canada, though no official expansion plans have been shared.
