Munich Airport sets up a shopping service for Chinese visitors
Sep 1, 2015
Munich Airport is setting a shopping assistant program for its Chinese visitors. The initiative, which will be tested in terminal 2, is expected to boost sales in duty free shops.
The service will consist mainly of translation and sales guidance. Six specially trained assistants will be available to guide tourists from the Far East through the airport and help them with questions on purchases and tax refunds.
In order to reduce cultural and language barriers, and to provide Chinese customers a good shopping experience, the assistants will be able to speak and translate Mandarin, Cantonese and Taiwanese.
The service will be available daily from 9 am to 10 pm and can be booked online or by phone. "With our new service, we want to do something good for our Chinese visitors because Munich is a popular tourist destination for people from this country. Our team will help solve communication and orientation problems so that our guests can find their way quickly," said Bettina Wiegen, retail director at the Munich Airport.
