Net-a-Porter ventures into beauty

Starting March 20, the online luxury retailer Net-a-Porter will be expanding its product catalog to include a selection of makeup, nail polish, hair products, perfumes and upmarket skin care. The products will be published online in a new shopping magazine called “Beauty: The Quintessential Edit” and is expected to include names such as Aesop, Chantecaille, 3Lab, Natura Bissé and several other hard-to-find brands.

A dozen upmarket cosmetic brands will enhance Net-A-Porter’s fashion line.

“The proposition is really where the beauty-meets-fashion aspect,” the company’s managing director Alison Loehnis told Womenswear Daily. She explained that the idea is not to make a big product catalog but rather remain very selective to complement the site’s fashion offering. The Quintessential Edit is scheduled to go live Tuesday March 19 on the e-commerce site founded by Natalie Massenet and will be available in French, German and Mandarin Chinese.
