Social media analytics company NetBase on Monday released its Top 100 Most Loved Brands list. The list was compiled based on NetBase’s social analytics technology that shows the connection between consumers’ emotions and brand preferences.

In 11th place, Nike is the top leisure/sports company on the list - Nike

NetBase reviewed nearly 24 million posts across 84 countries and the results span across 13 different industries, with retail beings hands-down the best represented, and originate from 11 different countries. 62% of the brands in the list are based in the United States and 33% of the brands are from the retail industry.

“Understanding consumer preference and emotion is one part art, one part science,” said Bruun-Jensen. “Measuring the volume or the sentiment of social content alone will not take into account the emotion or passion that a consumer often relies on to make their purchase. Identifying brand emotion can give companies new insight into their brand health and help drive intelligent decision-making.”

Apple and Disney hold the top 3 spots (with Apple and iPhone being considered as two separate entities) followed by Etsy ranked in 4th place, the highest of all fashion related brands. Other brands that made the list include Nike, Amazon, and eBay in the top 20, Victoria’s Secret and Chanel in the top 30, Adidas and Target in the 40s, Gucci in 60th, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Topshop in the 70s, Crocs ranked 80th, Sears 94th, Forever 21 97th, and Nordstrom squeezed in at the very last place.

The countries represented are: the US, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and China.
