French order and inventory optimisation specialist OneStock has started to truly internationalise its business. Already well-established in France and the UK, OneStock now operates also in Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria and the USA, and has launched a new tool in collaboration with LVMH.

OneStock plans to accelerate its expansion until at least 2020, and is hiring new staff in all of these markets. The French specialist is working with Italian fast-fashion group Imperial, and is supporting the IdKids group in deploying ship-from-store capabilities at the US branches of childrenswear brand Jacadi.

“The challenge for us is to tailor our tools to the retail specificities of each country, in order to implement order-management systems that are consistent with consumer expectations and, on the retail side, to deploy bespoke, optimised solutions,” said Romulus Grigoras, CEO and co-founder of OneStock, who indicated that the USA and Italy currently account respectively for 5% and 7% of the projects OneStock is active on, with France accounting for 42% and the UK for 21%.

A few days ago, OneStock also announced the deployment of a new tool, which has been adopted first by the LVMH group. It is called ‘Delivery Promise’, and has been developed with the luxury goods market in mind. It shows on the page the products’ in-store availability, and forecasts delivery times, notably enabling consumers to choose based on costs and carbon footprint.

Ship-from-store capabilities are currently one of the main technical challenges facing fashion chains. By matching inventory, the system enables them to avoid going out-of-stock by finding stores where the sought-for item is available, and the store itself can then take care of shipping it. A transformation of stores into miniature logistics hubs which, besides optimising inventory levels, is eventually expected to reduce the costs and environmental impact of transportation, as goods are shipped from the stores nearest to the customer.
