Science-backed skincare start-up Oodee has raised €830,000 to make its newly-launched Allergen Neutral products “the new standard” in skincare.

London-based Oodee said the “pioneering” Allergen Neutral skincare range “provides a new solution to the hidden mysteries of allergies, intolerances and skin flare-ups… a group that is often overlooked by the beauty and cosmetics industry”.

Founded in 2018 and four years in development, the brand “eliminates 14 food and 26 fragrance allergens and drives results with DermaRDE – a multivitamin complex of scientifically-proven active ingredients”.

Using plant-powered science, “Oodee is on a mission to close the gap and change the face of skincare, bringing a product to the market that will have a big impact on the lives of people who suffer skin flare-ups”.

At the same time, the start-up has put sustainability and plant power at the forefront of its products. It said Oodee’s range is made up of natural and nutrient-rich products that are cruelty-free, vegan, and manufactured using green chemistry methods. In addition, all packaging is made from recycled and upcycled materials.

Co-founder Karen Harwood said: “There has been an acute lack of evidence and support for women and men who can’t find a solution to random skin flare-ups. It can be a lonely, frustrating, and often painful place to be. Something I have struggled with for over a decade.”

With the “oversubscribed" funding round supported by Angel Investment Network, the new financing will be used for inventory, marketing, consumer product testing, recruitment and trademarking and IP protection, the company said.

As well as retailing via its own website, Oodee is also available from online retailer Victoria Health.
