OutDoor, the benchmark trade show for outdoor sporting activities, is held every summer in Friedrichshafen, Germany, on the shores of the Bodensee (lake Constance). At the end of the event’s first day, on Sunday June 17, the show organisers announced the winners of the show’s industry prizes, as has been the tradition for the last 13 years. The Gold awards were issued to nine new products for outdoor sports at the forefront of innovation, for their cutting-edge technology and eco-sustainable features.

The Norrona cycling jacket - Outdoor

First of all, two jackets: the Skibotn model by Norrona Sport, specifically designed to protect the cyclists’ handsand the Terrex Agravic Windweave by Adidas, the density of whose waterproof fabric differs depending on the parts of the body it covers.

Among the winners, also two footwear models. The Wildfire Edge by Salewa is a mountain approach shoe with a structure suitable for technical mountain approaches, scrambles, traverses and climbs. The Unico by Naglev is instead distinctive for its integrated merino wool sock.

Another winner, upstream on the supply chain, was the Spandex recycled yarn by Sheico, an alternative to polyurethane-based yarns.

The other awards went to accessories and equipment. Ortlieb has upgraded the design of its Track waterproof backpacks, while Salewa has further refined the Apex Wall backpack, built to optimise the performance and comfort of mountain climbers.

Also recognised were the Skimo Total Race crampons by Camp, the Fjellguard 60 four-season sleeping bag by Oase Outdoors, Garmin’s InReach Mini emergency tracking device and Nordic’s Pocket Saw, a pocket-sized hand-powered chainsaw.
