The French watchmaker unveiled the "Equus Régulateur," the brand's first regulator watch, at the Baselworld watch and jewelry fair. This luxury timepiece combines innovation with technical expertise and high-end design.

Pequignet has updated its watch range with a new model that breaks with the designs and technology used in the firm's previous models. The "Equus" line is one of the French watchmaker's historical collections, created by Emile Pequignet himself. For 2016, this watch range is getting a regulator model, a design characterized not only by its great accuracy, but also for showing hours, minutes and sometimes seconds on separate dials. Here, hours are indicated in an off-center subdial at 10 o'clock.

But this revolution in design also brings a revolution in technology. This is the first time in Pequignet's history that the watchmaker has used this kind of movement, stepping away from the traditional three-hand calibers usually favored by the firm. The Equus Régulateur uses the SII NH37 caliber, a self-winding movement with a central minutes function, an hour subdial at 10 o' clock with a 24-hour dial, and a date window at six o' clock.

Since its creation, the Equus range has been constantly evolving to keep pace with its time, said Pequignet CEO, Laurent Katz. It's a collection that's constantly renewing itself. Making the Régulateur is a bold move for Pequignet, combining a traditional and classic complication with a minimalist design that echoes a highly contemporary vision of watchmaking, Katz continued. In fact, 30 years after its creation by Emile Pequignet, the Equus collection still offers incredible versatility, allowing the firm to play with the creative codes of watchmaking, he concluded.

The Equus Régulateur has a 41mm stainless steel case with a polished finish, and is available with a black dial or an opaline silver dial. Straps are available in black or brown alligator-effect calfskin.

In a final sophisticated touch, the watch strap is set on the Equus collection's characteristic lugs, symbolizing a horse rider's stirrups.

The Equus Régulateur is water-resistant to 50 meters and is priced at €1,290 (approx. $1,444) for black and silver versions.
