Once again, Pomellato has found the senior manager it was looking for at Bulgari. The jewellery brand bought by French luxury group Kering in 2013 has appointed to the role of chief marketing and product officer Boris Barboni, who previously worked at Bulgari, a brand belonging to LVMH, the direct competitor of François-Henri Pinault's group.

Barboni will hold this position, a newly created one, for both Pomellato, the jeweller’s flagship brand, and Dodo, a younger and more affordable brand, stated Pomellato.

Barboni takes over from Stéphane Gerschel, who left Pomellato in May to join US watchmaker Movado. Gerschel had been hired in 2017 as global brand managing director and he also came from Bulgari, as does managing director Sabina Belli, who has been in charge of Pomellato since 2015.

Barboni, 40, has built a fine career in luxury. After initial stints at Colgate Palmolive and in 2008 at L’Oréal, he moved to the luxury sector by joining Salvatore Ferragamo, where he notably held the position of global marketing and product development director. He joined Bulgari in 2015, first as global marketing director of jewellery, then as managing director of Spain and Portugal, and later as managing director of Italy and Turkey, as well as taking charge of the brand’s cross-market strategy worldwide.
