Primark received the seal of approval after extensive testing and inspections by an independent third-party. Certification giant TÜV Rheinland concluded that the retailer’s certified products are free of animal derived materials such as silk, wool, leather, pearl, feather, down, bone, exotic skins or fur.

This will give ethically-conscious consumers some piece of mind after some high street chains have been found to be selling real animal fur as faux.

TÜV Rheinland said all materials were checked by microscopic analysis, fibre analysis or other appropriate test methods to ensure they are free of textiles of animal origin. Additionally, suppliers of process chemicals were asked to provide a declaration of conformity, stating that their products are manufactured without any raw materials of animal origin.

Primark’s own range of cosmetics has also previously received Leaping Bunny status, awarded by Cruelty Free International in 2018.
