The museum, one of the 16 best fashion museums in the world, according to Condé Nast, is showcasing vintage bags and accessories from luxury brands, such as Hermès, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Céline and Saint Laurent.

For its first time ever, items exhibited at the museum, which features classics such as the Chanel 2.55 and the Birkin bag from Hermès, are available for purchase via the Rebelle online store.

The Museum of Bags and Purses originated from the private collection of Hendrikje and Heinz Ivo that was first operated from their home. Since 2007, the museum has been located at the Herengracht, at Amsterdam’s canal belt, a part of the Unesco World Heritage List.

The museum collection currently consists of more than 5,000 bags, from historical objects from the 15th century, to timeless classics of modern day designs by famous fashion houses, such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermès.

Apart from vintage designers bags, Rebelle also offers vintage shoes, clothing and accessories from ready-to-wear brands and luxury fashion houses.

At the online marketplace that was founded by Sophie-Cécile Gaulke and Max Laurent Schönemann in Germany in 2013, customers can also find vintage items.

The Rebelle exhibition at the Museum of Bags and Purses is open until 4 July 2016. The museum is located at Herengracht 573, Amsterdam.
