Redress, an environmental NGO working to reduce waste in the fashion industry, will host EcoChic Design Award, a sustainable fashion design competition. The contest is an international platform for next generation to cut waste out of fashion. Here, fashion designers and students will develop sustainable womenswear collection with minimal textile wastage.

Fashion designers with less than three years experience and fashion designing students living in Asia, Europe and the US will participate in the contest. These participants will be showcasing their six outfit sustainable collection developed by using one or more of the environmental-friendly design techniques of zero-waste, up-cycling and reconstruction.

Ten finalists will be selected to showcase their minimal waste collections at Hong Kong’s Fashion Week Centrestage. Before showcasing their respective creations at the Hong Kong event’s grand final fashion show that will be held in early September 2017, the finalists will also attend a one week knowledge exchange programme, various design challenges and several networking events with top industry professionals.
Started in Hong Kong in 2011, the EcoChic Design Award inspires young fashion talents to create mainstream clothing with minimal textile waste.
