Since its launch in 2007, trade show Capsule has carved its reputation as the go-to destination for independent labels in the United States and in France. Founded in New York by Minya Quirk, Edina Sultank and Deirdre Maloney from fashion consultancy BPMW, Capsule has since manifested itself in Las Vegas, Paris and Berlin and in total puts on 12 trade shows a year.

The trade fair’s growing success has attracted the attention of some of the industry’s key players, notably Reed Exhibitions. After acquiring streetwear trade show Agenda in 2012, the event-organizing giant has added Capsule to its agenda of over 500 events across the world. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed and it is unclear whether Capsule will join Agenda in company’s ReedPOP subsidiary. According to WWD, Capule’s teams are likely to remain intact.

Capsule began life solely as a menswear show before branching out into women’s wear 2010. The show now showcases both men’s and women’s apparel and accessories. As for Reed Exhibitions, the organizer manages prominent design shows such as Bijorca and Maison & Objets, both of which take place in Paris.
