Roy Luwolt named global CEO of Emanuel Ungaro
“Luwolt has acquired another title. He has just been announced as the new global CEO of Italian ready-to-wear label Emanuel Ungaro.”
This is how the organizers of the FN Achievement Awards on Tuesday greeted the American manager, after awarding him the 2017 Emerging Designer Award.
The awards, sponsored by Footwear News, an American footwear magazine, are considered the Oscars of the industry. Roy Luwolt was awarded the 2017 FNAA Emerging Designer Award for the brand Malone Souliers, which he directed and co-founded in 2014 with Mary Alice Malone.
Before handling the development of the British shoe brand, the American businessman worked with ABC Television and advertising agency Young & Rubicam, which belongs to the WPP group.
Reached for comment, the Ungaro fashion house did not wish to make a statement.
The French brand, which has been owned since 2005 by Aimz Acquisition, the investment fund of Pakistani-American businessman Asim Abdullah, has been headed for the last eight years by executive director Marie Fournier.
Six months ago, Emanuel Ungaro appointed Marco Colagrossi as creative director and has equally revived its women's ready-to-wear line by taking it internally.
To accelerate its growth in the United States, the brand also reached out to Angela Casiero last March, a consultant agency specializing in marketing, public relations and sales, to oversee the supervision of the North American market.
