Safilo renews eyewear partnership with Pierre Cardin

Safilo and Pierre Cardin have chosen to renew their partnership. The Italian eyewear manufacturer, controlled by Dutch fund Hal, and the French luxury fashion brand announced that in a joint statement that they have renewed their licence until December 31, 2026. This licence renewal strengthens the long-lasting union between the businesses which dates back almost 30 years, since the first collection of Pierre Cardin glasses were produced by Safilo in 1991.

The licence agreement covers the development, production, and distribution of Pierre Cardin’s collections of sunglasses and of frames for prescription glasses.
 
The latest models of Pierre Cardin glasses were unveiled at a runway show held in September at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. The event was held to launch a documentary about the brand titled ‘House of Cardin’. 

Safilo Group counts licences for brands including Boss, David Beckham, Moschino, Missoni, Tommy Hilfiger, Isabel Marant among others in its portfolio. The business ended 2019 with a turnover of €939 million ($1.1 billion) representing a 3.1% increase compared to 2018.
