Sankuanz, the label by Chinese designer Shangguan Zhe, a semi-finalist at the LVMH Prize in 2015 and a critics’ favourite in the last few seasons, has signed two prestigious collaborations, teaming up with Puma for his Spring/Summer collection and Herschel for the winter.

Sankuanz X Puma

The Sankuanz-Puma collaboration was first glimpsed at the label’s show for the Spring/Summer 2019 last June, and was officially presented on Tuesday for the first time, with a gala evening during the Paris Men's Fashion Week - a light-hearted moment for Shangguan Zhe, after his Autumn/Winter collection showed earlier in the afternoon.

Still, the collaboration is a major undertaking for the designer, and a new venture for Puma which, besides its long association with Alexander McQueen, since 2005, had recently teamed up with artist Bradley Theodore.

Shangguan Zhe’s street style is a mix of sportswear and vintage, and for Puma he has spawned a capsule collection of apparel and footwear with a 1990s flavour, customising the Cali, Cell Endura, RS-X and Thunder shoes.

These four Puma best-sellers have been reinterpreted with oversize soles, the line including a pair of running shoes with hi-viz inserts, and a pair of sneakers with day-glo green rubber soles and inserts, the logo incorporated in a bubble. All the Sankuanz x Puma models are available for purchase from February 2.

For the apparel line, Shangguan Zhe again blended vintage style with avant-garde materials, creating a tracksuit top with high-impact prints, a sweatshirt with a reflective Puma logo embroidered on the front, and trousers bearing the names of the two partner labels along the side piping.

Sankuanz X Herschel

For the winter, Sankuanz will also feature a first collaboration with Canadian backpack and travel accessories brand Herschel. The backpack line comes in three looks, with details inspired by the equipment of military divers, and consists of three items which can be worn individually or combined with one another.
