There are two major leadership changes at TJX Europe, the owner of TK Maxx and Homesense. Louise Greenlees has been promoted to a global role as group president. She will assume responsibility for European and Australian operations together with the group’s Global Buying Offices.

The company said Greenlees’ seven-year leadership at TJX Europe had seen the business “grow successfully” across its six markets, both in-store and online.

She joined TJX Cos as managing director of Homesense in 2010 and went on to lead TJX Europe in 2015. Prior to joining TJX, Greenlees worked in buying and merchandising before moving into leadership roles at Arcadia.

Her promotion means COO Michael Munnelly will now take over as TJX Europe president. He joined TJX Europe from Tie Rack in 2000, initially as a merchandise planner.

He was named group director of merchandising and e-commerce in 2018 and was promoted to chief operating officer in early 2020.

In its most recent Companies House filings in October, TJX UK swung to a loss after being “significantly impacted” by the pandemic. It suffered a pre-tax loss of £254 million in the year to January 2021, compared with a £104 million profit the prior year.
