August 30 marked the opening of Colombia’s first Concept Store, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to the country. The inauguration of the Bogotá store drew the likes of Marvin Bernstein, the brand’s associate manager; Cristian Donghi, Colombia’s country manager; and Jennifer Clay, vice president of merchandising and communications.

Skechers arrived in Colombia more than 15 years ago, and now is found in hundreds of retailers, including Falabella, Sport Line and Linio. The brand also has three outlet stores in the cities of Bogotá and Cali, and an e-commerce platform. The newest shop is found in Bogotá’s Centro Comercial Parque La Colina, which is owned by Chilean company Parque Arauco.

The new store holds more than 6,000 items, valued at 650 million Colombian pesos (about $220,000), including the full men’s, women’s and kids lines. It is also currently the only store in Colombia to sell the brand’s new line of sports apparel.

Skechers’ plans for Colombia include the development of more stores, but the brand has yet to announce the exact dates for new openings. The brand estimates at least a 10 percent increase in sales by the end of the year thanks to the new concept store.
