Space NK has partnered with Adyen, a payments platform, to make its e-commerce experience more convenient for customers in the Asia-Pacific region.

By adopting Adyen’s e-commerce payment offering, the beauty retailer will offer online customers a wider range of payment options, including the payment methods Asian shoppers are used to.

“As a business looking to expand into new markets, it was important to us that we were able to offer our new customers the best possible online shopper experience using their preferred payment method,” said Andy Lightfoot, CEO UK & US at Space NK.

“While the UK and US, our biggest markets, have very similar payment methods, we receive significant orders from the APAC region where there are numerous payment options and preferences.”

To tackle this issue, Adyen’s technology allows the Brititsh retailer to create localised payment sites, and the quick speed of deployment means that Space NK can launch faster into new regions.

Additionally, Space NK will have visibility of transactions across regions to better understand trends and optimise the approach in each market.

Online sales increased “significantly” at the luxury beauty brand in the first quarter of the year, according to CEO Andy Lightfoot, while like-for-like sales saw a double-digit rise across the US and UK retail portfolio.

The 26-year-old company has nearly 70 stores in the UK and Ireland, plus 41 in the US.
