McCartney has been awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for her services to fashion and sustainability.

From her early days in the industry to date, McCartney has been a high-profile campaigner championing environmentally-friendly methods of making clothes and accessories, as well as cruelty-free fashion.

Her website proclaims her clothes have features “no leather, feathers, fur, skin since day one”.

Meanwhile, Tom Joule, founder and non-executive director of Joules, has been awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for services to business.

He launched Joules in 1989 when he began selling clothing on a stand at a country show in Leicestershire. The business has since grown to a multi-channel lifestyle brand delivering annual sales of almost £200 million, with more than 140 stores across the UK and a total active customer base of more than 1.9 million.

The business employs over 1,700 and is the biggest employer in its hometown of Market Harborough, Leicestershire, where the business has operated since day one.

“Having delivered significant growth over the past 30 years, Joules is still known and loved for its distinctive use of humour, colour and unique prints, each of which is hand-drawn by the brand's talented in-house print design team at its headquarters”, the company said.
