It said the two are going to “create garments unlike any other on the market” in a three-year commercial collaboration to produce textiles using revolutionary carbon material graphene.

Work is under way to develop a product using Versarien Graphene Wear technology, to import graphene’s thermal and moisture management properties.

Graphene is one of the most robust and thermally conductive materials on earth, which the company said “will result in product lines with improved performance and extended product lifespan”.

And it added that having access to Versarien scientists and labs at the Universities of Manchester and Cambridge will “accelerate Superdry’s innovation platform and create ownable technologies”.

During their creation, the product will also have a lower environmental impact and will reduce the need to add any virgin material during recycling, “thus future-proofing the circular supply chain”.
