Target is the latest retailer to partner with YouCam to launch an augmented reality Beauty Studio experience where customers can try on 88 products from 10 brands including Cover Girl, L'Oréal Paris, and Revlon.

Customers can try on standard beauty products including lipstick, eyeliner and blush. The app was created to work best on a phone with a front facing camera, but customers can also upload a photo to the web. Once they have selected the product they want to try on, consumers start the experience by clicking the button that says "see how this looks on you."

Christina Hennington, senior vice president of beauty and essentials at Target, said in a statement, "With the introduction of these new initiatives, which blend physical and digital to create an enhanced experience, we're giving Target's guests even more convenient options to find the perfect beauty items for their unique needs."

Target is supporting the augmented reality experience with live chats from beauty consultants. Beauty Studio joins Target's growing portfolio of augmented reality platforms. Previously the retailer rolled out a virtual furniture shopping experience where customers could use AR and VR to see what pieces would look like in their homes.

As a mass market brick-and-mortar brand, Target is among a number of traditional retailers currently looking to elevate their consumer experience by leveraging new technology and integrating physical and digital platforms.

Target's AR Beauty Studio is available to try out now.
