Texworld Evolution Paris attracts 3,700 buyers in first July edition

The Texworld Evolution trade show was held in Paris at the Le Bourget exhibition centre on July 4-6, the event’s first edition not staged in September. The textile/apparel show hosted some 400 exhibitors, and stated that it was visited by 3,700 buyers. The hope is that, for the February 2023 edition, Chinese buyers, historically the most numerous contingent, will make a come-back.

Nevertheless, international visitor numbers were on the rise this session: buyers from outside France accounted for 83% of visitors, well up from the 65% they accounted for at last February’s edition. After French visitors, it was buyers from Spain, the UK and Italy who mainly circulated among the show’s aisles, followed in their numbers by Turkish, German, Dutch and even US buyers.

“This latest edition, staged in early summer rather than September, showed that manufacturers were able to get ready in advance to meet buyers' expectations,” said Frédéric Bougeard, president of Messe Frankfurt France. “[The session] also confirmed that a new milestone has been reached in the journey back to our shows’ original formats, which we hope to be able to feature in February and then in July 2023,” he added.

Unfortunately, Texworld Evolution was blighted by a transport strike affecting the RER B metro train line, connected by shuttle bus to the exhibition venue. The Grand Paris Express line, set to serve the venue ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, is still unfinished.

Among Texworld Evolution's notable features, the Avantex Fashion Pitch, whose prize was awarded to Redonner, a new organisation that offers solutions enabling fashion labels to redirect dormant and unsold inventory to the French waste disposal and recycling system.

The next edition of Texworld Evolution Paris will be held on February 6-8 2023. As previously reported by FashionNetwork.com, the July 2023 edition will mark a break in the event’s tradition: it will leave Le Bourget to be held for the first time at the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre. But long before that, Texworld will travel across the Atlantic for the latest edition of Texworld New York City, scheduled on July 19-21.
